Reading Screenplays

As a professional or aspiring screenwriter you should regularly be reading as many screenplays that have been bought and made into movies as you can get your hands on. These are the screenplays that have been written by writers who have managed to persuade someone to buy their work AND invest money in converting their “blueprint” into a film. Respect!

Read and learn from the many screenplays in this archive

The purpose of reading these scripts is to absorb style and technique as you observe how these writers amongst other things, say more with less, subtly reveal information, reveal character through dialogue and create worlds in which they find creative ways to introduce their characters. There are many more lessons to be learnt… if you open your eyes and your mind.

Please bear in mind when reading screenplays, (both those accessed through this website and from elsewhere,) that there are always a few formatting differences between screenplays written by established professionals and “spec scripts”.

Some of our scripts are scanned origionals, others transcribed copies. Check the title page for more information about the date, draft number, colour shooting script and the original title.

This archive also houses a number of PILOT SCRIPTS
